Built by the prominent Yaldwyn family in 1640, the house was positioned at the foot of the ancient River Wey, to give access to England’s purest water source. Over the centuries, guests to Blackdown Park have included King Edward VII, Oliver Cromwell, George Bernard Shaw and Alfred Lord Tennyson, all of whom drank from the crystal clear, life-giving spring.

Blackdown’s first vines were planted in 2007 and it soon became clear that this exceptional terroir, peaking at 280m above sea level, and the classic combination of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier would enable us to create exceptional single estate, sparkling wine using the traditional method, made famous by the Champagne region.
